Richey Promotions (RP) is an Award Winning Country Music Promotion Company on Music Row.
Working with both Major & Independent Labels, specializing in secondary markets since 1985!
Q: Q: What do Garth Brooks, Eric Church, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, and so many other icons in country music have in common?
A: They were all virtual unknowns and newcomers whose record label leaders had the foresight to promote to both large and small markets, and the insight to hire RP.
MOST AWARDED INDEPENDENT PROMOTION COMPANY IN COUNTRY MUSIC HISTORY!
RP opened in 1985 as the first company in Nashville to specialize in secondary record promotion calling on small and medium size country radio stations.
Up to that point very little attention had been paid to the smaller markets and they were virtually overlooked and underserved. Within 18 months, the success that RP achieved caught the attention of executives at Columbia and Epic Records. After trying RP on one project, they quickly hired Diane and her team to represent all their songs to the smaller markets.
It was during this time that Columbia and Epic saw some of their greatest successes, breaking artists like Patty Loveless, Rick Van Shelton, Rodney Crowell, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Doug Stone, Collin Raye and Joe Diffie. RP called the secondary stations while the label staffers focused on the big markets.
By 1989, RP was hired to represent all of Capitol Records. That was the year that Garth Brooks had his first No.1.
Atlantic Records quickly jumped on board with RP as well. Their success was overwhelming. With debut No.1’s and GOLD records by Tracy Lawrence, John Michael Montgomery, Confederate Railroad, and Neal McCoy!
What did they all have in common? They were all being represented in smaller markets…by RP!
At this point, other majors began to see the trend started by RP. Warners, MCA, and RCA soon put their own staffers on to call these secondary stations.
Sometimes they would use RP in tandem to strengthen their push. Such as the introduction of Trisha Yearwood with her debut No.1 “She’s In Love With The Boy,” Mark Chesnutt‘s debut No.1 “Too Cold at Home,” and Tim McGraw’s first No.1, “Don’t Take the Girl.”
During the 90’s, the company won every Gavin Award for Independent Promotion for 10 years.
In 2000, The Gavin Report awarded RP the first and only award for “Promoter of the Decade.”
In 2011, Country Aircheck began giving awards during the New Faces Show at the Country Radio Seminar. RP was a finalist both years!
In 2014, RP won the award for best “Independent Promotion Team” at the CRS / Country Aircheck Awards.
In February 2018, RP won the award again for best “Independent Promotion Team” at the CRS / Country Aircheck Awards.
